Almost all cyclists ride west to east as the wind is usually (but not always) behind you and finishing at the sea is a terrific end to your trip. However you can of course start in Dover and finish in Farnham.

The distances shown are a guide only and will vary depending on the accommodation you book. We can provide transport for the group and bikes between the trail and your accommodation should it be required.

We have mapped a 34 mile route that joins Winchester to Farnham. The Wessex Crossing, which starts on the west coast at Weston Super Mare, ends in Winchester. By combining the Wessex Crossing, the trail from Winchester to Farnham and the North Downs Way you can cycle from coast to coast across southern England.
Many cycling groups like to arrange their own accommodation so we have listed some of the better hotels and inns with links to TripAdvisor where you can read customer reviews and check prices and availability.
When booking accommodation ask if there is secure storage for your bikes and the time breakfast is served in the morning. All should be able to provide packed lunches. For those starting late or cycling long distances, check when evening meals end. If you plan to arrive mid afternoon check inns are open as many close between 3 and 6 pm.
If you prefer, we can reserve rooms for you. We charge the price of the rooms plus a fee of £15 per person per night to cover our admin and insurance costs. A deposit of £100 per person is paid when you book with us. The balance is then due 4 weeks before your trip begins.
Farnham is a compact, fairly attractive town with a range of restaurants and pubs. There are good road links to Farnham and it is on the train line from London Waterloo via Woking. Between Farnham and Canterbury there are some beautiful and historically interesting towns and villages to stop at including Guildford, Rochester and Wye.
